There’s been a project that has tickled my subconscious for a long time now. Since Knitting Vintage Socks came out and I discovered the Weldon’s Pamphlets, I’ve wanted to knit an OLD skool stocking. Last week I decided it was time to give it a try. While I have the right volume in hard back, I found the PDF online. I spent a great deal of google time trying to find the right yarn as the yarn cited in the pattern is long since gone. I couldn’t even find any specs on it and the pattern doesn’t give a gauge. The best I could turn up lead me to buy a cone of 60/2 silk from Webs, which arrived yesterday. The 0000 dpns were already in stash. No idea when I added them but most likely during my phase where I wanted to knit a real Orenburg shawl.
This morning afternoon I decided it was time.
Got my cone, dpns and reading glasses ready. Oh yes, plenty of coffee too, had to stay alert.
Two hours later I had completed 22 rounds of 120 st per round 3×1 ribbing of @1″.
This is awesome! Am I earning the “crazy” in my moniker or what?
Craft on!

Oh my! Those silk stockings are a crazy project indeed. You will have definitely earned your stripes — but perhaps only when you finish them. ;o)
