We hit another milestone this week.  Kat, who had had one of her baby teeth die, managed to break the thing Monday evening.  There was very little of it above the gumline.
Naturally our dentist is on vacation in Bermuda. ¬†So I let my fingers do the walking and hit upon a pediatric dental practice in the next town over. ¬† They were able to squeeze us in yesterday afternoon for emergency treatment. ¬†X-Ray’s showed just the roots and a tiny bit of tooth above the gumline. ¬†The dentist recommended removing it and have a space maintainer made. ¬†She did say I could wait until my regular doc was back, but I opted to have her do the removal. ¬†Timing works out fine as my doc is back next week which would be when they start the maintainer process. ¬†All good.
Kat was a serious trooper. ¬†Not a peep or even a cringe as she got a novocaine shot and the tooth bits were extracted. ¬†As a note, pediatric dentists are the way to go. ¬†They hid that nasty looking novocaine needle from Kat’s view. ¬†She never saw it so never had a chance to get freaked by it. ¬†Bravo to them! ¬†Anyway, she was quite the trooper and the tooth (a pre-molar – second one in from the 6yr molar which she is yet to cut btw) is gone.
Unfortunately, the removal resulted in many tooth pieces so there was nothing to stick under her pillow.  I suggested she write a note.  (click for bigger)
I dictated the letters as she wrote. ¬†I’m definitely saving this one.
Craft on!

I love Tooth Fairy notes. We have a few of those floating around here when my youngest actually swallowed his first tooth and my eldest lost one of hers. Glad the visit went so well.

Risa – poor Kat. Good little trooper… hope she’s feeling better.
One of my daughters had a habit of losing her teeth whenever we’d leave the state. Washington DC…Tarrytown… PA…she even went to our neighbors house once to lose one. So there were many notes under her pillow over the years. I’m sorry I didn’t keep any of them, knowing her writing talents I’m sure they were gems.

It’s a perfect note and definitely a keeper! (I mean, really.)
And I’m laughing at my Mom’s comment above–I was reading the comment without looking at the name and just knew it was her before I looked up to see the “Joan!” My notes really weren’t that god, though.

I still have notes my 13 year old grandaughter wrote when she was a small thing. . What treasures!

Glad to hear you found another dentist and hope the maintainer goes well! A friend’s son lost one of his newly hatched front teeth when he was 7 and they won’t make him a plate until he is 10 (eek, less than two months away!).

What a little trooper! Oral surgery, black eye — yikes, what’s next?

That note is a keeper. I agree about pedi dentists. We drive all the way to Philly for ours — have for 11 years, since my oldest started going to the dentist. Thanks to them, my kids have zero fear of the dentist, despite procedures similar to Kat’s — and my youngest is actually thrilled that he has to return to get cavities filled, he likes it there so much!

What a little trooper! The tooth fairy note is adorbs. Tooth fairy is quite flexible when it comes to the actual tooth. We had to leave a note under the pillow once too.

I love tooth fairy notes too. I just need to be careful where I save them considering that i’m not supposed to have them – the tooth fairy is.

I saved all my daughter’s tooth fairy notes (because she always had to write one) along with the Santa Claus and Easter Bunny notes. They are so cute!
