…is to admit you have a problem. ¬†Well I think I have a problem. ¬†Not sure, maybe you can confirm for me. ¬†I was looking for a skein of yarn. ¬†I got an email that references a cashmere cowl and remembered that I picked up a skein of the stuff somewhat recently at MY. ¬†So I went hunting for it in the recent purchases stash which lives in my bedroom. ¬†Let’s ignore for a moment that I haven’t found it yet. ¬†It’s here. ¬†Somewhere. ¬†I’m not overly concerned about not being able to find it yet as I got distracted by what I did find. ¬†6 skeins of Lorna’s Shepherd Worsted in a lovely dusky purple color that according to the bag and the receipt, I bought at MY on 3/27/08. Sounds good right? ¬†Here’s the problem, not only don’t I have a clue WHY I bought it (beyond it being nice), I don’t even remember buying it.¬†

Sigh. ¬†I’ve now checked my ravelry queue, my amazon purchase history and my blog for a clue as to why. ¬†Nuthin’. ¬†I can find good uses for it for sure, but I’m pretty sure I bought that much yarn with a particular sweater in mind. ¬†Oh well. ¬†

I apparently missed my blogiversary again this year :) ¬†Even with the ¬†countdown thing! ¬†It was yesterday. ¬†I never remember exactly, but I do remember starting right around the twin’s 1st birthday. ¬†Just never sure if it was before or after. ¬†It’s after. ¬†Makes it four years I’ve been at this because the twins are now FIVE! ¬†I don’t believe it either.

Unfortunately their birthday coincided with Yom Kippur this year. ¬†Probably won’t be the last time. ¬†My sister, who is late September, has had it happen too, either that or Rosh Hashanah. ¬†Didn’t stop the twins from having a good 5th birthday. ¬†

We had their birthday party with the little classmates at Little Scoops in Closter today.  Awesome place.  We went to a party this past March (hmm right around the time of the mystery yarn purchase) and I was mightily impressed with the place.  There are entertainment hosts who lead the kids through games, dances and other assorted activities.  Here the twins were put in the center of a parachute along with a couple of small beach balls.  The other kids then grabbed along the edges and flapped the chute bouncing the balls all around the twins.  It was really cute.

There’s pizza for lunch which is followed by ice cream sundaes that the kids make. ¬†

The birthday kids get to put their hand prints on the wall which are then name/dated.

Everyone had a good time. ¬†Including the mommies. ¬†Because of the entertainment directors, the mommies don’t really have to be involved in it and can socialize amongst each other. ¬†Gave me a chance to meet a new batch of mommies as just about all the kids they were in the class last year have moved onto kindergarten this year. ¬†

I got a big surprise a few weeks ago when I found out that I knew one of the mommies. ¬†She and I were roommates in the hospital during my long bed-rest stay there. ¬†I think I mentioned in the past (maybe i didn’t) but I spent 8.5 weeks on hospitalized bedrest from 26 – 34+ weeks. ¬†Well during that time A was newly pregnant and having awful¬†morning-sickness and wound up hospitalized for about a week. ¬†We hit it off really well. ¬†She came to the bris and baby-naming and unfortunately that was the last time we saw each other. ¬†We met again one day as we were dropping the kids off. ¬†It was cool. Her daughter and the twins will probably spend the next two years together in school. ¬†Small world eh?

Hmm, what else? ¬†Oh yeah, spinning. ¬†I’ve updated my wheel roundup page as there is a coming change in the herd of wheels. ¬†I’m selling the Majacraft Suzie Pro and buying an Ashford Joy. ¬†Nothing wrong with Suzie. ¬†She’s a very nice all purpose wheel, except I have a few all purpose wheels. ¬†What I really need is a good portable wheel that might just fold up small enough that I can tuck in the small closet in the forward cabin of the boat thereby letting me spin on the boat. ¬†I know there are others out there and I’ve owned the other choices ;) ¬†I thought about another Journey Wheel, but just can justify the cash outlay that one calls for, especially since Deb doesn’t want to sell hers back to me ;) ¬†I had the Victoria and just wasn’t impressed with it. ¬†Maybe it was because I had an early model, but my tension knob never stayed in. ¬†Made me nuts. ¬†And well the Gem and I never got along for more than a few minutes. ¬†Her treadling bothered my bum ankle. ¬†So, Joy it is. ¬†I bought a used ST off the spin-sales list the day after I sold the Suzie there. ¬†It should hopefully be here before Rhinebeck. ¬†Fingers crossed, if not Bug gets to go.

Speaking of Rhinebeck. ¬†Here’s a slightly out of date photo:

I took this on the 6th when I finished the knitting on T&C. ¬†On Monday, I started the awful process that I truly dislike of sewing the thing together. ¬†Well, a week later, I have half of it done. ¬†I really should get to work on it now. ¬†Ugh. ¬†Hates it. ¬†Love sweaters though. ¬†Hates sewing. Hates it. ¬†If I were to make this again, I’d revise it so it was in the round like FLAK or Celtic Dreams. ¬†No more sewing in dopey saddle shoulders. ¬†

Anyway, tired, feeling ucky thanks to some post nasal drip that is making a mess out of my throat and looking forward to a holiday off tomorrow.  We probably going to take the twins apple picking like we did last year.

Craft on!

Happy New Year! I also have a late September birthday and it gets lost in the shuffle. But, you obviously can’t lose track of your kids’ birthday! The party looked like fun. As a newly empty nester, I’m feeling nostalgic about those parties.

Question: Have you ever knit in shul? YK services go on all day at mine, and it crossed my mind this year…

Happy birthday to my the twins! That looked like a fun party. I wish there was one of those Littlescoops near us.

Ahh yarn addiction is a problem, blackouts too. You are pretty far gone. Don’t worry I’m right there with ya;)

Ditto on the birthday wishes! I had my 6-yr old grandson for the day last week and what fun that age is! Haven’t got him spinning or knitting yet, but he loves weaving and beading! (Have you tried the Wee Robin? I’ll let you know how I like mine if he actually brings it to Rhinebeck!)

    Happy blogiversary/twins birthday/etc!
And wow, that is some impressive hoarding with the disavowed LL. Really, applause.

Go go Rhinebeck sweater (would you like me to dance around telling you all singsongy that MY Rhinebeck sweater is finished and washed and blocked?) :D

Happy Birthday to those sweeties! I’m also not crazy about the Gem — I’m thinking of a Joy too for a travel wheel.

Happy birthday–to the twins and the blog!

And, you know I love my Little Gem … but no, you’re still not getting the Journey Wheel back!

Happy birthday to the kids! Happy blogiversary to you! Happy yarn discovery, too, even if it’s a mystery.

Happy Big #5 Monkeys! The town where you ahd the party is right next to the town I grew up in. I’m relieved that your problem is with finding a skein of yarn and figuring out what the Lorna’s Wrosted was for and not a problem with T&C (othe rthat effing sewing). You may have bought the Lorna’s because it was in the sale bin and figured “why not buy all six skeins?” That’s my guess. I bought some Lorna’s too in a gray color.

It looks like the kids had a great party and birthday despite having the High Holidays along in the mix.

I think you will really like the Joy. Let me know about that Woollee Winder… Sorry I’ve been off line for a few days…
