One Crazy Fiber Lady

A Lost Day

September 18th, 2008 · 12 Comments

That headache I had?  Not sinuses.  Jess used the mom voice and made me go to the doctor on Tuesday when I had complained about having the same headache for 4 days.  My doctor diagnosed it as a migraine and prescribed Imitrex and Percocet for the pain.  I wound up taking the max two doses of the 100mg Imitrex and 2 of the painkiller over the course of the evening.  I tried to hide in my darkened room.

Wednesday morning the pain was mostly gone, but I had the postdrome or migraine hangover. ¬†Though it was hard to really tell the difference. ¬†I sat with my sunglasses on in the office, slouched down in my chair, willing my head not to move. ¬†I went home early and for a change turned in early. ¬†This morning, it is better, not great, but better. ¬† I still don’t want to move much (walking jars the head) and the back of my head feels like it was hollowed out and filled with concrete, but at least I don’t need my sunglasses this morning. And I don’t feel queasy either. ¬†Eventually it will go away. ¬†I have to check back in with my doctor this afternoon.

Before turning in last night, I was able to do a little knitting.  I finished the back of T&C.

Lurve it! ¬†I cast on for the first front piece but didn’t even finish the first row. ¬†I did that this morning during the commute:

Thanks to the head, I’m going to pass on SnB tonight and probably turn in early.

Craft on!

I’m glad you went to the doctor and I’m glad you’re slowly getting better – I’m also happy the mom voice worked! ;o)

Ouch! I was wondering the same thing myself–headaches aren’t supposed to last that long–so, good for Jess for making you go to the doctor. (I only mother a dog, so my “mom voice” doesn’t work that well on two-legged people.)

Hope you’re feeling better today–and yes, early to bed sounds like a wise thing to do….

So glad Jess used the mom voice and you got some meds to help. I really hope you feel better very very soon. T&C looks gorgeous! A nasty migraine won’t keep you down for long. Rest & heal

ok I’m a bad person ’cause I didn’t even think of saying go to the dr since I would never go to the dr for it, tsk, tsk on me.

Glad you’re feeling a bit better at least.

I’m sorry I didn’t think to tell you. I had the same thing happen a couple of years ago. I thought it was sinuses, turned out to be migraine. The problem with Imitrex is that it works best if you can catch it at the very beginning. Once it has “set in” my remedy is fiorinal (with codeine) and sleep.

The T&W is lovely. Can’t wait to see you wearing it at Rhinebeck. (I have faith!)

Meant to type T&C…I don’t know where that W came from.

Ugh. Migraines are awful (how’s that for an understatement?). I’m glad you went to see the doctor and are starting to feel better. Take care of yourself.

Yech, migraines. I used to get them when I was in my early 20′s. Glad you went to the dr. The sweater is looking great.

Poor Risa! I hope you feel better soon. My migraines are usually “ocular” which means I have the strange flashes of light and zig-zags. Afterwards I feel like I’ve had a seizure and the world goes by really slow for about a day. Then, its back to normal. No headache, most of the time. I guess I should be grateful to not have the incapacitating headache.

Damn Migraines. Sorry they picked you. Who knows why we get them. Hormones? Food? All of the above….

Love the sweater – you are right on track! :)

I hope your migraines are history for a while so you can continue knitting your delightful sweater. I am amazed at how much you completed during your commute, it is very pretty.

‘scared of you! your hands obviously have their own operating system, if I so much as have the sniffles garter stitch would be a triumph!

Hope you feel better soon. Get more tests about the headaches, just to be sure.
