One Crazy Fiber Lady

Cats and Kids

January 29th, 2008 · 11 Comments

Insert a Lurch {ugh} here please.¬† You see, every morning when I’m taking a shower, one of the cats, if not more, is in the bathroom with me.¬† This morning is was two of them:¬† Earl and Sara.¬† I got out of the shower to see this:

bathroom

Nice huh?¬† Figures the wee beast hit a brand new roll of t.p.¬† If it isn’t a kid making a huge mess out of my bathroom, the cats have to do it.

I haven’t done a huge amount of knitting recently as I worked from home yesterday.¬† Alex woke up with a fever and had had stomach issues during the knit (all over grandma’s bed).¬† Kat refused to go to school without her brother for a change.¬† So I worked from home so that we could employ zone defense.¬† The kids got a bit of a distraction when the mail arrived bring this:

New game

I bought it primarily for the boy, and yes I got the bundle with the wireless guitar controller.¬† However he doesn’t quite have the coordination necessary to play it.¬† Oh boy did I have fun with it last night though.¬† Worked up a bit of a sweat during my first gig. ;) ¬†

Fingers crossed, my order (thanks to wiialerts.com) at Sears.com wasn’t against backordered merchandise but actually in stock, the kids will have a Wii to play with soon.¬† Nintendo has always been the children friendly platform and well, it is kinda cool even if the Xbox will kill it processor/graphicswise.¬† It will be great for things the kids can play.

To further distract you from the lack of knitting pictures around here today, I thought I’d show this.¬† Have I mentioned how very cool my office is?¬† Yes, I still very much love this job and the people.¬† It is a web based company and we are early adopters of various technologies.¬† But then again, we have one of these in the kitchen:

cool_office

Neat-o huh?¬† It dispenses those cute 8oz glass bottles.¬† See that rectangle basket on top of the machine?¬† Well it has the change that came out of the machine.¬† Yes, we recycle the same coins over and over and over again.¬† Free $.50 soda.¬† Sweet.¬† Oh and next to the change bin?¬† Yes, that’s one of those 2lb Royal Dansk butter cookie tins.¬† There’s ALWAYS one of those up there.¬† Just like there’s ALWAYS buckets of pretzel logs on a file cabinet near the developer’s cage.¬†

It is getting even better, I now have the VP of HR knitting at lunch with me.¬† We had our first SnB at the office last Friday.¬† I came in to find a post-it on my desk, “let’s do lunch and knit today”.¬† Yah baby.¬†

Craft on!

OMG the tp is too funny. My old holder used to do that, nevermind the cat! So you’re gonna be a rock ‘n roll star eh? ;) The coke machine is too funny. Where the heck did they find that thing? Much less the stuff to fill it?? And way to go on assimilating the HR person. That can never hurt. ;)

It was one of those damn machines with the little glass bottles (that got the Coke icy cold) that got me addicted to the evil stuff. I am two weeks cola free as of today, thank you very much!

My cat used to do that when she was a kitten. Hiro thankfully hasn’t caught the bug.

I loved my Guitar Hero until I tried Rock Band now I’m a convert. Only because it lets me be the lead singer. Now if I could only find room for it in my basement I would buy it immediately.

Way too jealous of the coke machine to even discuss:P

Free coke, cookies & a knitting VP! Your new job rocks. So what songs did you play for your first gig? Rock out with your sock out! harhar. An old roommate had a cat who loved to shred TP. We had to keep it in a container with a lid or TP confetti would be all over the apartment.

Hey, does your company need a writer or an angora rabbit groomer? I could work in a place like that. :)

Chappy’s become even more of a thief lately and this morning stole a tissue from my parents’ bathroom but then ALSO ate (yes, ate) a latex glove from Mom’s hair-color kit. Yikes!!

I am so happy that the job is working out so well!!! Joshie (the crazy dog) seems to share your cats habit…. it drives me nuts ;)

The kids love the Wii. Enjoy GH3 — it’s on Rachel’s wish list. That’s one that I think Brian will get into.

So glad you’re liking the job. Makes life so much better! Years ago there was a funky antique shop that had that machine (they kept your money though). Nothing tastes better than an icy Coke out of a bottle. At the Costco here you can buy Coke made in Mexico, where they still use cane sugar. I’ve promised the girls we’ll buy a case when the weather warms.

Raven did the TP like that as a kitten, but thankfully not anymore. Did catch her with a ball of Rowan this morning while I was sorting stash so the kitty impulse is intact.

Love all the socks and new lace. That spun up nicely.

your dunny roll problem reminds me of (how embarrassment, mental blank, blogger who lived in Taiwan for a year or so) whose lovely calico had a “thing” about loo paper. She used to pull it off the roll and wrap it around everything and anything in the bathroom.
    New job sounds good! :-)

gotta tell ya, i worked for columbia pictures 100 years ago when coca cola bought them (long before sony) anyhoo, one day (in addition to the stock perks we all got) a guy starts rolling along cubicle row with 6 packs of coke! this was to become a weekly perk – sort of like school yard ‘free’ loose joints you know to get the kids addicted…

I had a cat that shredded kleenex. I had to start buying the kind that “pop-up” out of the box instead of the ones that have a half-moon cut-out in the side of the box….
