Tunnel Lights

January 28th, 2007 · 6 Comments

There is definitely a light at the end of the tunnel, which for a change might not be the headlight of an oncoming train!  We are definitely winding down with the house construction.   Carpet was laid today in the new section!  Painting was finished on Friday.  Final inspection for the Certificate of Occupancy will be Wednesday.  Do you believe it?  They ripped the roof off the house on November 17th.  I can’t believe it is almost over.  Probably late this week the folks will move to their new digs and the work would begin in the old bedrooms.  Whew.

Also finished on Friday?  The first sleeve of Celtic Dreams.  I’ve really been battling myself with this sweater.  I’ve enjoyed it for the most part.  Probably would have liked it a bit more if I hadn’t had to use 2mm needles for it.  But still, it is my first aran sweater and a nifty one at that.

I spent my first "vacation" day huddled in the den, while the rest of the house had been invaded by the painters.  It was too damn cold to go outside, so other than dropping the kids at school and a short outing for lunch, I knitted and caught up with the DVR.  Shortly after the kids went to bed that night, I finished it.

Because I’m struggling with the temptation to put the darn thing on its own vacation, I picked up the second sleeve last night.  By the time I went to bed, I had progressed through the flat section and had just connected the sleeve to knit in the round.  I made some amazing progress today.

Counting repeats of the 4 stitch cable, I have 6 more repeats before starting the cuff.  I wouldn’t be out on too much of a limb to suggest that this sucker is going down tomorrow.

I got a packet from the kids’ school.  They are participating in a Hop-a-thon for MDA.  Would anyone be interested in making a donation to sponsor my monkeys?  I could set up something with PayPal.

Craft on!

Congratulations! C.D. looks fabulous . . . and I felt the same way when I was nearing the end. Enjoying it, sure, but ready to be DONE. (Actually, I think I feel that way about every big project . . . the last quarter is the hardest. Or well, between 75 and 95% . . . the last little bit always feels GOOD. And yay for the house!! At least it’s warming up . . . Friday WAS cold.

    And, sure, I’ll sponsor K & A….

OH! CD is looking Fabulous! I really need to pick mine back up don’t I? You and Deb have inspired me to get my butt back in gear on it. And really, I have no excuse since mine is on size 8 needles! (I knit tightly and I’m using different yarn…) I did find that as beautiful as it is, Black Water Abbey yarn compresses a LOT. I had to use smaller than called for needles on my Bramble Berry making it a chore. :)

The knitting looks great – what progress! (And how did you take a no-hands picture of yourself???)

I’m a soft touch for band candy, etc – of course I’ll sponsor the twins.
