Running with the big dogs

I decided to quit fighting the geek in me and gave into temptation.  After much debate and browser closing, I finally bought my own domain:  www.crazyfiberlady.com and have managed get the domain mapped to the good old blog.  Okay, I seriously debated hosting my own blog, but really, I don’t need that type of geek satisfaction.  I get to write a website at work.  I’m leaving that door open for the future.

I’m not entirely sure what the domain change is going to do to bloglines and other such subscription services (whether the old will work until I do decide to move it off typepad ) you should update to the new home.

Hopefully a real post later tonight with updates on the house, knitting and all things crazy!

ps.  Not my dogs of course but an image borrowed from the wiki.

Knit Nut

I hope everyone had a nice New Years.  Mine was low key.  My folks went to a small party at my aunt’s house leaving me with the monkeys.  Making the evening interesting was the fact the had very late naps.  Kat finally went to bed that night at 10pm.  Alex didn’t get up from his nap until midnight.  Figures that I had gone to bed at 10:30.  He wound up curling up in bed with me and actually slept through till morning with a transfer to grandma’s bed at 1:30 when she came home.  All in all, a nice relaxing evening if not a bit odd.

So begins the Knitting from the Stash.  I really do think I might be able to achieve this.  The stash really is obscenely well endowed.  And I won’t mention the additional bit of shopping that I did at Yarnware on Friday while the twins were at my father’s office.  Okay, you dragged it out of me.  I picked up enough Noro Kureyon to complete Butterfly, as well as the pattern book.  Again.  I discovered yesterday while re-shelving a bunch of knitting books that had migrated from the shelves in the basement to my bedroom dresser, that I already own it.  Might just have to put it up on Destashing and get rid of it.  I completely forgot that I had purchased it.

Aside from the little acquisitions, I have been making decent progress on the current pile of active projects.  Sadly the Forest Canopy shawl sort of drifted off the radar and was replaced by an oldie but goodie.  The long forgotten Ribby Deux.  I started this sometime this past spring.  I don’t remember if it was before or after the move.  I do know that it is out of Cascade 220 that I picked up in one Webs sale or another.  Maybe I should dig in this blogish diary of mine before making statements like that.  I found the necessary entry here.  Somewhere between then and now I finished off both black sleeves and started the back before abandoning it.  The last I truly remember working on the thing was during the season finale of 24 last May.  Good thing it came out of the figurative mothballs as that baby is due to start soon.  Sweet.  Anyway, making progress on the back..

I returned to ribby to give my hands a break from Celtic Dreams.  While I love the thing, heavy worsted weight on 2mm needles with all the cabling is a bit draining.  Okay so not knitting IS an option, but not the one I wanted.  CD is coming along beautifully.  This picture is a bit dated as I finished the garter band and am now into the skirt.  Need to remember to wind a new ball of yarn tonight so I can work on it tomorrow.  CD has actually been my commuting/lunch project.  Go figure.

Last but not least are the current socks.  I finally decided that life is really too short (and there is so much good yarn out there) that I don’t need to fight me way through the second of the Handspun on the Web socks.  Just isn’t necessary.  Not sure what I’ll do with the yarn, maybe I’ll weave with it, or heck, cut it up into short lengths for the birds, but I really don’t need to knit with it.  Shame as it really is pretty.  Open to suggestions.

So I started new socks.  I’m using Lornas Laces Shepherd Sock in the Black Purl colorway.  The pattern is Whisper Rib & Shepherd’s Lace that Margene gave me last year during Better Pal (oh boy was she a great pal!).  I love this pattern and am kicking myself that I hadn’t started it before!

That’s about it for tonight.  Tomorrow in the beloved SnB.  I’m off to do a little relaxing before calling it a night.
