WIP Wipe-Out

March 12th, 2006 · 38 Comments

WipwipeHere’s my pathetic attempt at a button for the WIP Wipe Out! Please copy to your server, blah blah blah. There’s been a pretty darn positive response for this informal KAL.  Just a review of the whole thing:

Rules:
1.  Reduce thy WIP list.

That’s it.  Nothing more than that.  Purchases aren’t forbidden.  Perish at the thought.  There’s no banning of casting on new projects, that would be as popular as a root canal.  Feel free to cast on, provided of course that the old projects are getting completed.  The goal is to get the WIP beast under control.

MY goal is to wind up with a total of 3 to 4 knitting projects.  Total.
1.  Sweater
2.  Sock
3.  Lace

That means if I finish a sweater, I can start a new one.  If I finish socks, I can cast on for more.  Got it?  Wednesdays, we’ll update progress.

Participants – see sidebar!

Here’s hoping the WIP beast can be tamed and that those folk on the fence decide to join us.

Craft on!

I’d love to join the WIP wipe out — I need to reduce my WIPS too.

  • 2 Jill // Mar 12, 2006 at 11:29 pm

Count me in too! I’ve only got a few WIPs compared to some in blogland but it’s a few too many.

  • 3 Marji // Mar 13, 2006 at 8:17 am

I’ve been doing this anyway since the first of this year. Last calendar year I Finished or Frogged or gave away all the vintage UFO’s. This year I started on WIP’s and after the knitting Olympics really realized what a wonderful thing it is to complete a project, and what a drain it has been to have so many WIP’s on the needles. So I’m there with you. Love the button.

I would like to join the WIP wipe out. Since the Olympics I’ve been trying to get a handle on my WIP’s. Maybe this will help me focus and cure my startitis.

Oooh – can I join too please? I want to get matters under some resemblance of control…

  • 6 Lorie Valley // Mar 13, 2006 at 9:40 am

What a great idea to work on this WIP’s together. Count me in! I also have so many projects and I want to, but need to get these WIP’s off the needles!

  • 7 Lizzy B // Mar 13, 2006 at 10:04 am

Had I not just finished Bramble Berry I would have totally joined you! But I only have 2 projects on my needles so I think that’s just too small to warrant membership. Maybe I should cast on for a few other things! :)

  • 8 Norma // Mar 13, 2006 at 11:26 am

Ok, everybody’s telling me I should join. I suck at -alongs, I’m just sayin’. But I’ll join. What have I got to lose, but maybe a WIP or two?

  • 9 Alison // Mar 13, 2006 at 11:54 am

Please join me up! I also have the goal of reducing WIP and just finished a Landscape Shawl a couple of weeks ago. I’m down to 5 projects and will finish a couple before casting on for anything else. Thanks!

I’d love to join. My current wip list is out of control and this sounds like a great way to reign it in a bit.

  • 11 Wanda // Mar 13, 2006 at 12:31 pm

This is my kind of KAL. Please add me to the participant list. I am now off to make a list of all wip’s and will update blog tomorrow am and keep you updated. Of course, it’s great that this kal came to my knowledge after casting on 2 more projects this afternoon. What can I say? I have fiber issues. Nice to be among fellow ufo/wip disorder(lies).

  • 21 Maegan // Mar 14, 2006 at 11:16 pm

Oohh! I was just thinking the other day that my WIP pile was getting a bit ridiculous. I’ll be moving in June and moving finished projects would be so much easier! It will be a good excuse for me to actually update my blog reguarly too. Please sign me up!

  • 22 Polli // Mar 15, 2006 at 6:33 am

  • 27 Amy Lu // Mar 21, 2006 at 5:20 pm

Could you please add me to the list? I’ve been itching to do some “spring cleaning”. This will be just the motivation. I have two baskets full of projects needing attention.

  • 28 Margaret // Mar 21, 2006 at 11:01 pm

Sign me up. I have too many started projects. I am also counting all the projects started in my head! I finally had to make a priority list just to ease the stress!
