Another blog and run kind of post today. Its going to be a busy one. I’m well into the learning project and it no longer is Greek, just C#, which is a step in the right direction (I admit they could be one and the same for some of you
Then this morning, my boss emails me the specs for another project to modify a tool I’d worked on last year. The user (a four letter word
requested some changes and we do live to change code. I also need to get my grocery order in before 4:30 pm today for Peapod. They have nicer bread and better cold cuts, which are necessary mind you as the monkeys and I are hosting a gold medal winner for lunch and knitting tomorrow!

I’ve made more progress on the vest. I finished the three needle bind off at lunch yesterday. I then spent some time with the borrowed-from-mom steam iron giving the vest a good blocking. The ribbed effect that had formed along the arrows section is now flat, a good thing. Okay I steamed my thumb, which wasn’t such a good thing. I shall live though.

After it dried and cooled off, I parked myself on the couch before the Ice Skating competition and sewed up the hem. Using of all things, a needle and real thread. Amazing! It wasn’t so bad. I pulled out the scissors and trimmed off all the hanging yarn pieces, of which there were plenty. Once again Sara had to inspect the work to make sure it was up to snuff.
That takes two items off the items standing between me and completion:
steeksbind off shoulderssew hem- i-cord edging
- zipper
Ick. i-cord. As Cassie reminded me this morning, EZ didn’t call it idiot-cord for nothing. I’m dreading it more than I dreaded the steek cutting. I’m tempted to scoot out and pick up one of these and just whip out the cord and sew it on. Heck the pattern even gives you the knit separate and sew on, but I don’t relish that thought either. Oh well, going to suck it up and like Nike says, just do it. I think I can, I think I can, I think I can…
Craft on!

Can’t wait to see you wearing it!
It looks great – you were brave, knitting all those colours! Congratulations!

The I-cord won’t be as bad as you think! You can watch it grow (quickly) around the edges of the vest and it will keep you knitting mindlessly away. You CAN do it.

Your vest is really pretty! And it matches Sara perfectly! I KNOW you CAN do the i-cord!

You’ve made it this far–what’s a little i-cord? At least it IS brainless. Perfect for watching skating exhibitions tonight–or 24! Looking forward to tomorrow–maybe I’ll be able to catch your medal ceremony!

It’s all the i-cord that is keeping me from starting Mermaid, so I hear you. You could do a twisted i-cord, and then, if you’re anything like me, you’d be so charmed by the whole thing that youldn’t notice that not only are you knitting i-cord, you’re knitting two of them.
I got one of those i-cord mills to start mermaid (though I’m nervous, because it’s side-to-side so it’s an applied i-cord at the end and I worry I won’t match the gauge. ANYWAY, the kids LOVE it. Worth the $ just for that. And they have them at Jo-Anns, so if you have a coupon (I know how you love a bargain).
Have a great lunch of Olympians. You’re headed for the medals podium, I can see it now!
