Hello Dan. I’m standing here in the Olympic Village reporting on the latest medal awarded to the Olympic Knittings. And the gold medal goes to Risa, representing the United States Fair Isle Team in her first outing. What a race it was ladies and gentlemen. Having heard of these games, Risa, who had never done colorwork before decided that that was going to be her event and began training like no one’s business. It appears to have been a good decision.
And now while we play the national anthem (Spinning wheel got to go ’round), we present the medal winning performance and the athlete herself modeling the same (please ignore the idiotic look on her face. Its been a long day in a long week and our athelete is tired, not to mention quite challenged in taking these shots herself. This was the best of the bunch – ack. We didn’t have the heart to cut her head off, though were sorely tempted.).

Risa is ecstatic with the thrill of victory and relieved that she escaped the agony of defeat. "Bring on Ingeborg" she exclaimed, "but after the move." (The box is still sealed. Easier to move that way. ) "In the meantime, I bought the needles for Klaralund and will be swatching that tonight!"
That’s the news from Olympic Village. Back to you in NY.

BEAUTIFUL! STUNNING! I am pea-green with envy. I am still too chicken to really tackle colorwork. Maybe if you show off enough of yours, I’ll jump in head-first. Congratulations on your gold. ;o)

Goodness!! That is some lovely work – you so deserve that gold medal. LOL – and a nap and maybe a drink or two. You look so tired in your self portrait. Timers, they finally go the moment you blink

Congratulations, Risa! It looks fabulous, and the colors are gorgeous. Really wonderful–especially considering you hadn’t done any color work a month ago!

Congratulations! This looks like a great pattern; I’d likely use a different color since I don’t have orange in my wardrobe and it would be a little much against my skin color.

Gorgeous! Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. Great job, and huge congratulations to you on achieving the gold medal, from a fellow Olympian who’s last desperate hopes crashed and burned with an unexpectedly early falling asleep Thursday night but has had So Much Fun being part of all of this.

YAY! I knew you could do it. Good thing you took out that extra length.. i think its the perfect length on you now. I dislike short sweaters.
They really should count you as a test knitter hehe! They should remburse you for the yarn! I am not going to buy patterns from knitpicks ever again, thats for sure.
Anways, LOVE it, sooo cool! You should be so proud and you are a good fair isle knitter as you can see the pattern so clearly…

Wow. The vest is beautiful! Are you sure that’s your fist color work??
(I think Sara must have been taking the pictures – not you. I know how on top of things she is, and since she’s not in any pictures, I have to assume she’s taking them!)
Congratulations!!!

Can I just say that I am amazed that you work full time, parent two crazy toddlers, and STILL managed to complete such a fabulous vest in such a short time? You totally deserve that gold medal!

I’m playing the national anthem for you on something right now. Congratulations it is wonderful and looks great on you. You deserve the gold for all that work in such a short time. I never would have made it. You learned many new things with your color work and that is a great thing. Enjoy wearing it proudly.

Good for you.
I can’t even believe you did that that fast. And I saw it with my own eyes.

Risa, this looks great! Since you mentioned fit before, how does it fit? It looks good. Did you change the shaping at all?
29 Laurie // Feb 27, 2006 at 4:17 pm
That looks totally fine. Congratulations on a good win after a long, hard-fought race!

Amazing accomplishment! Just gorgeous! And you look so happy. I’d love to make Ingebourg, but I fear my Olympic attempt at mittens has me off Fair Isle for a while.
