I'm using the Kid Seta for my version of Kiri and came to the same conclusion while comparing it and KSH in the LYS. They look exactly the same and I think they knit identically as well. At $4.00 a ball cheaper I deifinitely would call it a great substitute... Just for confirmation of your idea.

My first attempt at Birch was done in garter stitch and I didn't like it at all......so on my first RIP, I switched to SS and am loving it so much more!!

Not sure about the right/left handedness stuff...but I have stuck to K2 thru the back loop and it looks ok. I never thoght to switch up the stitches either, although I can see that they would give you the same effect.

I love the color or your Birch!

So it was typepad's fault? Dang, I thought it was me. :) OK, I WILL resist the urge to tell you that you figured out what the Shetland Islanders knew all along. All they do is k2tog and k2togbl. and they dont' do those fussy SSK things either, just k3tog. Oops, guess I didnt' resist too well. ;)....ooohhhh arent' these crystals shiny! hehehehehehee

Sorry about typepad being such a pain in the rear. And hang in there with Birch, I'm sure it'll all be worth it in the end!

I substituted ssk for the k2togtbl and didn't even think of it. (Whoops. Way to document your knitting Steph) I've gotta salute your stick-to-it-iveness. I'd have put it in the back of the linen closet by now.

Thanks for mentioning me twice.

I've always held the yarn in my left hand, from learning to crochet first. It never seemed to make a difference as to how I make the stitches, atleast I never noticed before. I'll have to pay more attention.

Bravo! You are so, so much braver and stronger than I am. I nearly collapsed in a puddle when I had to pull ONE row out of birch. Wow. And bravo for figuring out what does what with your knitting. Being a righty, I've just stopped doing eastern uncrossed for anything with a pattern. I just confuse myself. You should write a tutorial for other lefties. Maybe that will be the One Crazy Fiber Lady book--"Lefty Lace" I like it. In your spare time, of course. Bwahahaha! Thanks for the links, but I deserve none of the credit. It's all you, baby. ;)

I've been catching up from the weekend and I almost emailed you to ask about the right/left thing. I couldn’t figure out what the handedness of your knitting had to do with your stitch orientation or your decreases. I'm glad you figured it out . Have you looked at Annie Modesitt's book? She makes a strong argument for eliminating the designation of what kind of decrease to use (unless pattern relevant) and suggests substituting right leaning or left leaning so that American, European, Eastern or combined, we are all reading the same set of instructions.

3rd time's the charm - good luck.

I did sl1, k1, psso for my Birch because knitting 2 through the back loop is insane, and for whatever reason, I prefer that decrease to the SSK. (And, really, if you think about it, what IS the difference between K2togb and SSK? They function in pretty much the exact same way!)
